San Francisco Restaurant Show

The second annual San Francisco Restaurant Show will bring together every segment of the food service industry, including restaurants, cafeterias, hotels, nightclubs, universities/schools, franchises, and convenience stores from November 6-8 at the Moscone West Center. The San Francisco area represents an $11.5 billion dollar foodservice market with nearly 50,000 eating and drinking establishments in San Francisco proper, alone.

More than 150 exhibitors from all areas of the foodservice industry will be on hand to share their products, trends, technologies, equipment and services with attendees. The San Francisco Restaurant Show conference program is sponsored and organized by The California Restaurant Association, THE source for information regarding California's restaurant and tourism industry. Representing more than 18,000 foodservice establishments across the state, members are kept abreast of the latest trends and government policies affecting the industry.

Special highlights of the event include The Wine Garden, a designated area on the show floor providing wine suppliers and distributors an opportunity to showcase their products to the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industries. The Wine Garden provides a wide array of wines and special tasting events for restaurant owners interested in building more margin into their business. The Wine Garden is sponsored by Santé, The Magazine for Restaurant Professionals. Also, new this year will be The Brewery, sponsored by the Association of Brewers, giving attendees a chance to sample dozens of specialty ales and brews to liven up usual offerings.

The Culinary Cooking Demonstrations will offer attendees the opportunity to watch top chefs from the San Francisco Chef's Association of the Pacific Coast conduct five cooking flights daily. R&I Menu New Product Showcase will feature the newest and most ingenious desserts, beverages, food products, services and technologies. A panel of judges representing industry press will select winners in three categories of the New Product Showcase including Overall Best New Product, Best New Food/Beverage and Best Equipment/Services.

2004 International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show®

As the hospitality industry resurgence continues, the 2004 International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS) is preparing for a prosperous market, with the launch of a new format, the Luxury Product Collection and a streamlined conference program.

The show will offer participants products and services from nearly 1,500 exhibitors, complemented by a full schedule of educational sessions, numerous networking opportunities and special events. The 89th annual edition, which runs November 13-16, 2004, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, is expected to draw some 45,000 lodging and culinary professionals from around the world.

Participating exhibitors will be presented in five targeted markets: Décor, Technology, Restaurant, Flavors and Essentials. New to the mix in 2004 is the Luxury Product Collection—a focus area dedicated exclusively to showcasing premium products and services.

The 2004 educational program will include more than 40 sessions covering both hospitality and restaurant topics. The hospitality sessions will kick off with a full day of programming on Saturday, November 13. Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala of CNN’s Crossfire will headline that day’s keynote luncheon. Conference highlights will include an Industry Summit and Industry Outlook, followed by break-out sessions addressing government advocacy; leadership skills; lodging food & beverage; sales & marketing; security; student career sessions; and technology. Additional hospitality sessions covering these topics and more are scheduled throughout the remaining days of the show.

New products and services debuting at the Show will be in the spotlight with the presentation of the 9th annual Editors’ Choice Awards for Best New Products. Awards will be presented in five categories Décor, Technology, Restaurant, Flavors and Essentials—with one company receiving the “Kenneth F. Hine Best of Show” Award for its new introduction. Winners will be announced at the opening ceremony on Sunday, November 14.

Numerous networking opportunities and special events will round-out the market experience for IH/M&RS participants. Show-sponsored highlights will include the 89th Annual International Hospitality Ball, IH/M&RS Chefs’ Championships, IH/M&RS Demonstration Kitchen, Salon of Culinary Arts, IH/M&RS Gold Key Awards for Hospitality Design, the IH/M&RS Bookstore sponsored by Kitchen Arts & Letters and the IH/M&RS Technology Innovation Center.

In addition, top hospitality organizations will present a series of exciting after-hours networking events in and around Manhattan, including the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH) 14th Annual Gala Fundraising Auction & Party; the Foodservice Industry Networking Reception; Hotels magazine Hotelier of the Year Reception; and the Hotel Association of New York City (HANYC) “Big Apple Stars” Awards.
At the same time, the return of the AH&LA Fall Conference will offer a forum for U.S. lodging leaders to gather and return to New York City during the IH/M&RS, further adding to the overall market experience for lodging professionals. AH&LA also will host their annual Inaugural Gala Reception & Dinner on Sunday, November 14.
